Change in plans

OK, so I've told all of you since last year to save April 24th open for our annual spring celebration. Due to some "very happy news" from some dear friends, we will be rescheduling this celebration. We're thinking midsummer, but we haven't had a chance to discuss it yet.

Smiles!

Jill

Alban Arthan / Yule / Winter Solstice

Please join us for light and laughter as we welcome the New Light and mark the beginning of the return of the sunlight.

Date: Monday, December 21, 2009
Time: 6:30 pm until...
Where: The usual place (private message me if you don't know where that is)
RSVP: No later than Saturday, December 19

Bring:
  • A side dish, hors d'oeuvre or dessert.
  • A beverage if you want something besides hot cider or spiced wine or soft drinks.
  • A sacrifice/item/written words representing something you wish to be rid of and put behind you as we say goodbye to the darkness and/or something that you wish to accomplish in the next year as we welcome the new light.
  • A candle (or candles) if it's precipitating.
  • Warm jacket
  • Sleeping bag or bedding if you're planning on spending the night.

Schedule (all times are approximate):

Arrive 6:30 - Decorate the Yule Log - Prepare Food - hors d'oeuvres, warm drinks, socializing
Dinner and Discussion 7:30 - We will provide main dish meat (including the steaks that Eira brought last time).
Ritual 9:00 - This will be outdoors unless it is precipitating.
Passing of the Horn/Sumbel following the ritual.

We will once again attempt to stay up until the Yule Log is completely burned and until dawn (however, we have never made it to dawn yet). We will have warm drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Please feel free to leave when you must or stay if you can.

Please let us know if you're coming and if you plan on staying so we can get a head count for dinner and breakfast.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Hawk Mountain Saturday!

We'll meet at the visitor's center at 12:30. Remember, there's no food to purchase up there. Bring water to drink, and eat something before you come. We'll be back down the mountain before it gets too dark, so it won't be too late.

Please let us know if you're coming so we know whether or not to wait for you.

Please let us know if you're planning on riding with us. We'll be leaving at around 11:15.

November Hawk Mountain Trip

No Hawk Mountain Trip on November 14. Next Hawk Mountain trip will probably be the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving. Hawk Mountain always puts on a really nice program that weekend.

Let's all hope that the sky is clear and it's not too cold!

Hawk Mountain

Unfortunately, the weather forecast worsened instead of getting better. I'm crazy, but not stupid. If anyone wants to go up the mountain with wind chills and possibly temperatures below freezing and a 90% chance of rain, we'll help with transportation.

Hawk Mountain - more rain

Forecast calls for rain both Saturday and Sunday. We could still go in the rain, but it's going to be pretty cold. Let's keep an eye on the forecast and if it changes for the better, we'll meet up at the visitor's center at 1pm. Eat lunch first - there's no place to get food (other than cookies) once you're up there.

Be sure we know you're coming and we have your cell phone number so that we can be in contact if there's an issue with meeting up.

So much for that.

Even though it may not be raining, it's very windy and a little chilly. Not a good night for a fire, and I think we'd all be a little too cold without one. Guess the idea of doing this after the Equinox was not such a good idea after all.

Weather Forecast

Tut tut, it looks like rain... (says Christopher Robin)

If it's raining really hard, you'll know the meditation is off on Friday.
If it's spritzy or misty, let's take a look at the temperature and make a decision. Call ahead if you're unsure.

October

Hi everyone! October is upon us!

Friday, October 2 at 8:00pm Full Moon Meditation for Peace (weather permitting)

Saturday, October 10 - Hawk Mountain - Meet at the usual place at 11 or meet us up by the trailhead at about 12:30. Call us so we can coordinate who we're meeting. This time some of us may take the whole trail up to the North Lookout (I'll go as far as I can)

Sunday October 11 - Pagan Pride Day - Wilkes Barre - and Gypsy Jay's B-Day! Anyone want to carpool?

Saturday, October 31 - Samhuinn ritual and ancestor meditation. Lorraine will also be joining us. Time TBA, but will probably be around 7:30 - 8ish depending on Tim's work schedule.

Questions? Please let me know!

Edited to correct the Hawk Mountain Date and add Pagan Pride Day.

Fall Frolic / Alban Elfed ritual posted

Please check out the file posted on the yahoo group for the closing ritual for Fall Frolic. If you don't have a part and you are going to the Frolic, please pick one and let me know.
We hope to get together to go over this and do a short New Moon meditation before we head over to the fire on Friday night.

Looking forward to this weekend!
